Stengade Strand

North of Spodsbjerg, on Langeland's east coast, Stengade Strand is where the treeline of Stengade Skov meets the sand directly — one of the stretches where the line between forest and beach almost disappears. The ground is fine sand, but stones appear near the waterline, so a pair of water shoes is worth packing if you're heading further out. There's a public toilet on site, along with tables and benches, so you can enjoy a packed lunch with a view over the Great Belt.

A short walk into the forest brings you to Oehlenschläger's Beech, one of Langeland's most talked-about trees. Local legend holds that the poet Adam Oehlenschläger found his inspiration for the national anthem "Der er et yndigt land" right here. That can't be confirmed — but it is documented that Oehlenschläger travelled to Langeland several times, including in 1804.
