Out in the countryside in Tressebølle lies a small place that many only discover once someone has told them about it. Frank often holds tastings of red, white, rosé and sparkling wine, as well as port, whisky and gin — but call him first, since there are no fixed opening hours.
Frank and his selection
Here you meet Frank. He runs the place himself and has, over the years, put together a selection of gin, wine, whisky and other bottles from various parts of Europe. The shelves are filled with both well-known and lesser-known producers, and what makes the place special is that Frank actually knows a great deal about what he sells. These aren't just bottles on a shelf — there's almost always a story or a recommendation that comes with them.
Tastings with Frank
Frank often holds tastings where you can work your way through red, white, rosé and sparkling wine — and he's also happy to bring port, whisky and gin into the tasting. It's a good way to get help finding something new, instead of just guessing from the label.
The selection changes
Inside the small space, the bottles stand close together on the shelves. Sometimes there's rosé and white wine for summer, other times darker wines or an interesting whisky. Olive oil and other specialities can also turn up among the bottles. The selection changes continuously, depending on what Frank has brought home.
Danish whisky from Stauning
A large part of Frank's shelves is set aside for Stauning — Denmark's first whisky distillery, founded in May 2005 by nine friends from West Jutland who started out in an old private slaughterhouse in the town of Stauning. In 2015, Diageo came in as an investor through the accelerator Distill Ventures, though the founders kept the majority shareholding throughout. In 2025, the distillery marked its 20th anniversary with a new bottle design and logo featuring nine lines around a grain motif — one line for each of the nine founders.
